Introduction
Buddhism was founded by Siddhartha Gautama, who was the prince of Nepal. It is said that one day Siddhartha was taking a journey outside of his palace and that is when he discovered old age, sickness, and death. After discovering such things Siddhartha changed the course of his life. Siddhartha gave up his kingdom and left his wife and kids to go on the search for why men experience suffering and sadness, and he did so for 6 years. then while meditating under a tree he got his answer . When it happened he became know as Buddha meaning the Enlightened one , the one with spiritual knowledge.
Teachings Of Buddhism
Buddha's teachings include the "Four Noble Truths". The first truth was that suffering is a part of life. The second truth stated that the origin of a mans suffering is his desire for things he cannot have, and his attachment to material objects . The third truth taught that man must overcome his desires in order to get rid of suffering and find peace. The fourth truth taught that man must overcome desire by following the "Noble Eight Fold Path" . The Eight Fold Path consisted of right faith, right resolve to resist evil, right speech, right action, right living, right effort, right thought, and right mediation. In Nirvana mans soul would stop its cycle of rebirth and become one with the universe. Buddhism encouraged followers to become monks.
