- 2000 BCE- First monotheistic religion: One all knowing, all-powerful god.
- Believed that god had made a covenant with Abraham blessing all of his descendants
- Led out of Egypt by Moses called Exodus Passover.
- Heart of Judaism were rulers called Ten commandments and other rules- "Honor your mother and father, you shall not kill, you should not steal,etc.
- The idea of an ethnical world view- moral standards of behavior and all people were equal before god.
- Zoroastrianism became the official religion of the Persian Empire, but it virtually disappeared in Persia after the Muslim invasion of 637 AD. Only about 10,000 survive in remote villages in Iran, but over the centuries many sought religious freedom in India.
